Final 2 months

Hello friends and family!

I hope you all are in good health! Well, looks like I'm in my last two months in Peru! Time sure has flown! There have been difficult times and moments of pure joy. We are currently in the final month of preparation for our project in Cuzco in April! Please pray that come with new ideas to help people in Cuzco, as many of you have heard that it had a huge mudslide in the Cuzco area, is putting a huge brake on the economy of this region. We are currently working on a drive arm with warm dining rooms, etc. We're also trying to enter the prison there is a little harder to get into so please pray for us to be allowed to enter.

We also pray for our neighbor Chile, which has been hit by a major earthquake. It makes us all very grateful for the confidence that we had. We are also under a tsunami warning for passing and pray.

I thank you for your prayers that I appreciate and need! Also for those who continue to support me because I'm still not my goal.

Back in the Jungle

Hi Friends and Family!

I am currently back in the jungle city of Iquitos! We are working with short termers in a medical clinic. The medical clinic is moving around to different locations where there will be future church plants. It has been very impactful. The doctors are working very hard and hundreds of patients are being seen a day!! The weather has even been perfect! not too hot only around 35 and not too rainy! It is wonderful!

After the jungle Leanne and I are going to Arequipa and continue to work on the Family zone project in April in Cusco. This project will have medical clinics and festival with kids! It will be awesome!

Leanne and I are working very hard and seeing the work of God everywhere! I appreciate your prayers! I am still working to raise the needed funds for this trip of 10,000. If any one would like to support me it would be GREAT! Thanks!

Back From The Jungles

Leanne and I recently journeyed to Puerto Maldonado which is in the Amazon jungle of Peru. Puerto is a site where there are 4 Americans and 4 Peruvians that will be living there for 2 years. Each Person is responsible for planting 3 churches. Working along with the local Pastor Freddy. These 8 young people were just moving to Puerto after there months of training. Therefore they needed a place to stay! So a few different trips of short termers came to build there new home and a first Church. Leanne and I were able to go to the last trip to help out with the Short termers. Now their home is complete! It looks beautiful! We are all very thankful that they can have a safe and comfortable place to live as they work VERY hard for two years! In the VERY VERY HOT AND HUMID jungle.

Also while we were there we had many impact events that we were involved with. One of these was going to the Prison where we were able to talk with Female inmates. They had worked extra hard to earn the privilege of our visit. Which was very touching. We sang and prayed and loved with these ladies. There were many that were interested in our Faith. Also we were able to set it up so that the young people that are now living in Puerto will visit these women weekly. This was a very neat experience, especially to see people who have had a rough life so eager to hear the word of God.

Another main opportunity we had was to minister to Prostitutes. Puerto is filled with many many prostitute bars. Which is very depressing. One night we went out and delivered invitations to these bars. For the women. The next day we had a supper for those who were interested in coming. We had a couple show up. where we ate together and just talked about our lives. And we talked about why these ladies had these lifestyles. And the main reason was to support their children. They had no other idea how. Also they had moved away from their families so that they would not embarrass them and they would never know what they really do for a profession. These ladies that came we were able to offer them the support of the church and the hope of a half way house that was coming. We also invited these ladies to come to other events we had that week. The one lady and her beautiful daughter Dayda did come to our Futbol and Volley ball tournament the next day. The young people that are staying in Puerto will also continue with this ministry!

The jungle was hot! To say the least. There is movement that is starting in the Jungle! I urge you to pray for these young people that will be serving there for 2 years! Please pray for their safety and their ministries! Thank God for them and their hearts to serve!

GOING TO THE JUNGLE!!!l

Leanne and I have been in Arequipa for over a month now.  We have been living with a Peruvian family in their spare room and participating in their daily lives with them.  It has been a interesting experience to learn how a typical Peruvian family lives and eats etc.  Also this month has been filled with our language school, which is a necessity for the work that Leanne and I will be doing.  So September definitely can be considered a month of learning, exploration and growth.

We also have been having meetings with our Mentor Scott about the project that the three of us (Scott, Leanne, and I) will be leading in Cusco.  This event will be build a living area for the 40/40 missionaries who will be living in Cusco for two years doing Church plants.  Also to kick off excitement and curiosity in the community about the Nazarene missionaries who will be coming.  After a few of these meetings we have come to the conclusion that it would be useful for Leanne and me to get our feet wet in one of these projects before leading one!  There for we will be in Puerto Maldonado from October 22- November 4.  This is a jungle so it will be very different from the mountain city of Cusco.  I hope my Canadian body will survive :)  WE are very excited about this opportunity and would love your prayers.  here is more info http://www.extremenazarene.org/City.aspx?ID=4.  

I hope this little update keeps all of you my friends and Family and informed!  Thank you for the prayer and support!  It truly is a blessing!!  Also I love updates on each of your lives.

Buenas Noches Mi Amigos!!  Como estan?  I hope that you are all well!!  

Leanne and I have arrived in Arequipa Peru safely!  We have been here for a week already and have found that we feel at home and are learning the city quickly.  For the first three months here in Arequipa we are focusing on our Spanish training.  We have school 5 days a week, then Saturdays are free we are going to get involved with feeding poor children on Saturdays.  And on Sundays we go to a  local Nazarene Church.  Also we are living with a Peruvian family for the first three months as well. So we are learning the culture within a family and how to live in close quarters with each other. That is a brief summary of how our lives will be for a while.

Also Leanne and I learnt more about our roles as Family Zone Coordinators.  It is a very exciting event that we are going to plan that will help kick start a Church plant in Cuzco.  This event will need volunteers so if you are interested get in contact with me!!  Also as I had mentioned before that we were going to be in Arequipa for only three months this has changed.  We are going to be here longer, not sure of the full details yet but keep us in your prayers!!

Assumed Date of Departure

This is my first post, obviously.  But I just thought I would make that clear:)  It appears that Leanne and I will begin our adventure starting on August 27th.  We are going to go to San Deigo and meet with a group of 40 short team workers and go through some orientation with them. It should be fun!
